Community Engagement Committee
Purpose
To encourage, train and qualify business-minded individuals who are
interested in serving on our local government boards and commissions.
Goals
- Monitor what commission positions are available on the city and county level
- Adequately communicate those openings to the Chamber membership
- Keep an on-going database of interested individuals
- Research the appropriate wards or districts to find qualified commission members in a given area
- Recruit and meet with individuals to gauge their interest
- Organize a public service academy to train interested individuals on the process it takes to get appointed and the training necessary to be an effective board/commission member
- Once the interested party has been vetted by the committee and
adequately trained, encourage the city council, county commission
and other decision makers to appoint those individuals
Benefit
Development and recruitment of qualified business-minded individuals
is necessary to ensure that our commissions, boards and elected officials
have a clear understanding of the importance of the business community
and the economic prosperity of our area.
