Chamber Committees

Through a variety of committees and task forces, more than 1,700 volunteers help to carry out the Chamber's mission and business plan for creating the best possible business environment for Columbia. Each committee is led by a volunteer chair person selected yearly by the Chair of the Board.

Committees are organized into one of four main divisions overseen by a Division Director from the Board. Each committee is also assigned to a Board Liaison to represent their concerns at Board meetings, and a Chamber staff member to assist them with reaching their goals.


Agribusiness Committee
To stimulate growth and maintain economic diversity by working to promote and support agribusiness in the area.

Alternate Income Committee
To research and organize special events and activities to raise non-dues income for the Chamber.

Budget & Finance Committee
To assure financial solvency of the Chamber.

Business Conference & Showcase Committee
To provide an environment in which the exhibitors at the Business Conference & Showcase can present their goods and services to other business and the general public, and to provide a time for interaction between all exhibitors.

Education Committee
To assist and act as a liaison between the education and business communities.

Emerging Professionals In Columbia Steering Committee
To engage and develop young emerging leaders in Columbia.

Government Affairs Committee
To monitor local, state and federal governments to ensure that issues of importance to the business community are thoroughly explored.

Junior Leadership Columbia Steering Committee
To motivate students and develop their potential for community leadership.

Leadership Columbia Program Steering Committee
To motivate emerging leaders and develop their potential for community leadership.

Membership Committee
To assist the Chamber's recruiter in attracting new members.

Small Business Committee
To promote the growth, profitability and recognition of small businesses.

Total Resource Campaign Steering Committee
To plan and implement the 2009 Total Resource Campaign.

Transportation Committee
To monitor and make recommendations with regard highway issues in Columbia and Boone County.
