Chamber Endorses Candidates
The Columbia Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors voted today to endorse the following candidates on the April 6 ballot: Gary Kespohl for 3rd Ward, Daryl Dudley for 4th Ward and Dr. Bob McDavid for Mayor.
An Endorsement Task Force, formed by the Chamber, looked for candidates that could move our community forward during a very challenging financial future. Specifically, the candidates the Chamber chose to endorse displayed strong leadership traits with the ability to handle tough issues. They are also able to bring the community together with a good balance of differing opinions and backgrounds.
In January, the Chamber’s Board of Directors approved the formation of the Endorsement Task Force to review city council candidates for the upcoming April election. Chair Byron Hill appointed a six-person task force to complete the process. All candidates for 3rd Ward, 4th Ward and the Mayoral race were sent a candidate questionnaire, which was reviewed by the Task Force. In February, all candidates except for Sal Nuccio attended the Chamber candidate forum. Members of the Endorsement Task Force were present at that forum to further evaluate the candidates before making their final decision.
